A design-centric bar crowning the new Carlton City Hotel Singapore in Tanjong Pagar, Graffiti Sky Bar elevates the concept of street art, while maintaining a distinctly relaxing vibe, all with the sparkling city skyline as a backdrop.
The heavy-hitters on the Singapore rooftop bar seen are rarely considered cosy, with picky policies, crowded spaces, and an impression that the air up there is simply more pretentious than on solid ground. Enter Graffiti Sky Bar, an edgy lounge that debunks the standards of rooftop lounges, with an intimate space and surprisingly economical drinks. The smoke-free bar offers indoor and outdoor seating, in a smaller space that fosters good times and great conversation if you so choose. The current Mojito special showcases 10 varieties of the classic rum cocktail, at a very palatable $9.50 per drink or $39 a jug.
Graffiti is visually stunning in both its decor, and less common vista of the south Singapore cityscape. The view of Singapore’s signature heritage shop houses (which look more like idyllic doll houses from Graffiti’s high vantage point) at the foreground of the glitzy CBD, is truly a sight to behold. Also eye-catching is the bar’s decor, relying heavily on sharp, angular fittings and bold, back-lit hues to create a uniquely modern look. It’s a fitting gallery for the graphic street art its named for, which tastefully covers the bar’s back and walls. In all, Graffiti’s cool vibes, tasty drinks, and next-level design, make the 29th level of Carlton City the place to be. (Jul 2014)
